Each year, the Friends of the Boca Raton Public Library proudly fund over $70,000 in enriching, educational, and entertaining library initiatives. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, volunteers, and Friends members, these programs continue to thrive and bring joy to the Boca Raton community. Below are just a few highlights of the many incredible programs we support!
1. The Sunday Music Matinees:

Want a nice, relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon? The Friends are proud to sponsor the Sunday Music Matinee, a series of free public concerts! Featuring a diverse lineup of talented musicians from across Florida, these performances span a variety of genres, including folk, bluegrass, ragtime, ballads, classic rock, and more. Bring a friend, sit back, and let the music take you away!
3. Virtual Book Club:

The Boca Raton Public Library’s Virtual Book Club, sponsored by the Friends, offers a warm and inviting space to engage in meaningful conversations about literature– all from the comfort of your own home! Held monthly via Zoom, the book club begins with casual conversation at 6:30pm, followed by an engaging book discussion at 7:00pm. The group has become a beautiful community of book lovers who have formed lasting friendships through their shared passion for reading. Regulars and newcomers alike are always welcome, along with any book recommendations!
In addition, don't miss the in-person book discussions for all ages held at the library, with books funded by the Friends handed out to participants. Search the library's calendar here for upcoming book discussions.
4. Storywalk:

The award-winning StoryWalk trail at Patch Reef Park is a great combination of reading and exercise! Designed to foster a love of books while encouraging movement, this interactive trail leads visitors through a series of panels displaying a children’s story, page by page. Find these trails along Patch Reef Park, Serenoa Glade Preserve, and Pondhawk Natural Area, all sponsored by the Friends. A great day trip for a family or just a way to introduce kids to the joy of reading, this fun experience won't disappoint!
5. Little Free Libraries:

Take a book, leave a book, and share the love of reading! Friends of the Boca Raton Public Library have taken the Little Free Libraries to seven of the city's parks and and community centers, making books available to all citizens at any time, in some of the city’s most scenic spots. You can find these Little Free Libraries at J. Patrick Lynch Golden Fig Park, Boca Isles Park, Sugar Sand Park, the Swim Center, Boca Isles Park, Hillsboro El Rio Park South, Boca Tierra Park, and Sand Pine Park. These charming book-sharing kiosks are stocked with books for readers of all ages and periodically rotated by our staff. Next time you’re out for a stroll, be sure to stop by and pick up your next great read!
